Make a cartoon with an AI assistant

An AI assistant that can use tools can make you a talking cartoon in Jabbertoon: not a video of pictures it painted, but a real cartoon, its characters, their lines, their moves and the camera's shots, that opens in the editor as your own. You watch it, change any of it, and record it as a video. The tools are free, with no key and no account.

Connect your assistant

Jabbertoon's tools are an MCP server at https://jabbertoon.com/mcp: an assistant that can connect to an MCP server connects there, and each tool is also a plain web address (https://jabbertoon.com/api/<tool>). How to connect, and what happens to what an assistant sends, is on the page for AI assistants.

Ask in plain words

Ask for what you want to see, as you would ask a person:

Make a 20-second cartoon on the beach. Sunny asks Grump if he is happy today; Grump grumbles that he is not. Hold close on each of them as they speak, and push in on Grump at the end.

The assistant reads Jabbertoon's guide first (the get_guide tool), then writes the cartoon as the editor keeps it: its characters, from the ready cast by name or built part by part as the Forge builds them; each line and who says it; the moves, the feelings and the walks; and the camera's shots (close on one character, two of them, everyone, and how the camera moves while each holds).

It checks its own work

Before you see anything, the assistant gives the cartoon to the validate tool, which checks it with the editor's own checks and says what is wrong, where, and how to fix it: a character who is not in the cast, a move with a misspelt name, a close shot on two characters. The assistant fixes what it is told and checks again.

When the cartoon passes, the assistant gives you a link to jabbertoon.com/editor/ (or, for a cartoon too big for a link, a file you open in the editor with ☰ › Open). Open it and the cartoon is yours in the editor: press ▶ Watch to see it, with the voices made on your own device (about 110 MB the first time a line is spoken), change any line, move or shot, and press ● Record video for a video file. The whole cartoon travels in the link itself, after the #, so it is not stored on jabbertoon.com.

See one

The guide the assistant reads ends with an example, written exactly as an assistant writes one: Sunny and Grump on the beach, a line each, the camera close on whoever talks, pushing in on the last line in a spotlight. The site makes its link from the guide itself, through the same checks, so this is the cartoon that example makes:

Not only cartoons

Why this way

A cartoon made of parts can be changed by the person it was made for: a line rewritten, a move swapped, a shot moved. A video made of pictures cannot. And what the assistant writes is the same thing the editor's buttons write, so a person and an assistant can work on one cartoon in turn.
