Make your own cartoon character from shapes

You can build a cartoon character of your own. It is made of shapes, like a paper cut-out that can move. You do not have to draw. You pick the parts, and the character maker puts them together.

When you are done, your character can walk, wave and talk in your cartoon. It all happens in your web browser, and nobody has to sign up.

1. Open the character maker

Go to jabbertoon.com/create/ in your web browser. You will see Start from at the top.

2. Pick a body

Press Stands up. You get a body with a head, a face and two legs. It stands up, like a person.

3. Add arms

Find Add a part. Press Arms. Your character gets two arms, one on each side.

4. Pick a colour for the arms

The new right arm is picked: Chosen part says Right arm. Under Colours, tap the light blue circle. It is the sixth one, and its name is Sky blue. The top part of both arms turns light blue, like the sleeves of a shirt. The lower arms and the hands stay the colour of the skin.

5. Add ears

Press Ears under Add a part. Two ears go on the head, one on each side.

6. Add hair

Under Hair, press Curly. Now your character has curly hair. If you do not like it, press Undo and try a new one.

7. Try a move

Look under the stage for Try a move. Press Wave. Your character lifts an arm and waves at you.

8. Give it a name

Click the Name box and type a name. Use a made-up name, like Zig or Pip. Do not use your own name or a friend's name.

9. Put it in your cartoon

Press Use in my cartoon. The studio opens, and your character is in the cartoon. It takes the place of Sunny.

If you made a cartoon before

Your character goes into the cartoon you were making, in place of character A. The studio keeps that cartoon as it was, so you can get it back: press Undo. If the studio asks you first, it wants to know if it may change your cartoon. Press Open the new one to put your character in.

10. Watch your character talk

In the studio, press Play. Your character says Sunny's lines, and its mouth moves.

More to try

When your character is in the cartoon, the guide to your first cartoon shows you how to give it words, a voice and a video.
