The Old Keep is an action adventure in a ruined castle. You come in through the gate. A knight guards the courtyard. Past the gatehouse, in the inner ward, waits the Warden of the Keep. Beyond him is a village held by soldiers and archers, with the Barn Brute in the old barn, and past the village the tower yard, where the Lord of the Tower shoots from afar before he comes in with the sword. His fall wins the keep.

How to play

Press Q to lock on to a foe and watch their sword. R blocks, and a block just before a blow lands is a parry. Shift rolls through an attack. F strikes; hold it for a heavy blow. T drinks from your flask. When your special bar is full, V lets your special move go. E uses what is near you: a lantern, a gate, someone to talk to.

On a phone, the game fills the screen: the stick on the left moves you, and the Attack, Block, Roll and Special buttons are on the right.

Lanterns, embers and better weapons

• Rest at a lantern to heal and fill your flasks. If you fall, you come back at the last lantern you rested at, and you can travel between the lanterns you have lit.
• Foes leave embers when they fall. Spend them at a lantern to level up your health, stamina or strength, or at the village stall for another flask.
• Take the Warden's greatsword where he falls, the keep spear in the barn, and the mail in a house in the village. Choose what you carry at a lantern.
• Choose Easy, Medium or Hard as it starts.
