Make a talking cartoon at jabbertoon.com/studio/

Keep this sheet next to you while you work.

Start here

Type jabbertoon.com/studio/ in your web browser. You do not need to sign up. Sunny and Grump are on the stage. Sunny is a person, and Grump is a dog. You will make them say your words. If it asks Keep going with your cartoon? first, press Start fresh.

Six steps to your cartoon

  1. Press Play. Watch Sunny and Grump talk. Their words show on the screen.
  2. Delete the words in each Says box: click in a box, then delete all of its words.
  3. Type your own words in each Says box. Line 1 is Sunny's line. Line 2 is Grump's line. Line 3 is Sunny's line again.
  4. In line 1, open the menu called Sunny’s move and pick a move. Try Wave hello or Hop.
  5. Press Make my video. Wait until it says Your video is ready. Keep the page open.
  6. Press Download video. Your cartoon is now a video file. It goes in Downloads. If a box asks where, pick the place your teacher tells you, and press Save.

End of lesson: Save my cartoon to a file

First, name your cartoon. Click in the Cartoon name box. It says “my cartoon”. Delete those words, and type a name. Use a made-up name, not your own name.

Then press Save my cartoon to a file. Keep the file. If a box asks where, pick the place your teacher tells you, like Google Drive, and press Save. On a Chromebook, it goes in Downloads, in the Files app, if you do not pick a place.

Next time, the studio may ask Keep going with your cartoon? If it shows your cartoon, press Keep going. If not, press Start fresh, then Open a file, and pick your file.

Want to add sound?

Ask your teacher first. Do it before step 5. Press Record my voice. If the browser asks to use the microphone, say yes. Read all the lines out loud. Then press Stop. It is where Record my voice was. Your voice goes into the cartoon, and the mouths move with it. Made your video already? Press Make my video again. No sound is fine too: the words still show.
