Dismiss

Never mind: the hand comes up in front of the chest and flicks out and away to the side, the palm turning out, while the head turns off the other way with the chin up; then the hand drops.

What it is for

Dismiss brushes something off: an idea not worth hearing, a worry, an apology the character will not accept. Put it on a character just after the other one has spoken.

The principle it shows: opposing action

The hand goes one way and the head goes the other. Moving two parts apart at the same moment makes the gesture read as a rejection, not just a reach.

Try this

  1. Flick the hand out over 0.4 seconds instead of 0.2. A lazy, bored "whatever".

In the program: ramp ยท over 0.2 โ†’ 0.4

  2. Turn the head 45 degrees away instead of 22. A haughty, offended dismissal.

    In the program: ramp ยท to.part:head~twist -22 โ†’ -45

How it differs from Wave goodbye and Shake head no

Wave goodbye sends someone off kindly; Dismiss sends an idea away. Shake head no refuses with the head alone.

Works on

The two in the film above, and what the move turns on each: worked out by the build, which plays the move on each body and checks what moves. Nobody types this table.
