Loaf

An animal on four legs settles into a loaf, as a cat does: its chest goes down onto the ground with its front legs folded under it, the paws tucked back at the wrist, its back legs tucked in and its tail curled round beside it.

What it is for

A cat at rest, warm and watching: the loaf is how a cat sits when it is settled but not asleep. Any animal on four legs can do it, and a cat does it most.

The principle it shows: fold, don't stretch

A lie down stretches the front legs out in front; a loaf folds them away. The elbows go back under the chest, the forearms come forward under it, and the paws fold back at the wrist, so the front legs disappear and the body sits on them like a loaf of bread. A cat's front leg bends the same way a dog's does: the elbow below the shoulder, the wrist folding the paw back.

Try this

  1. Settle more slowly: the first drop takes 0.5 s instead of 0.3 s.

  2. Curl the tail only a little round its side, 60 instead of 160.

How it differs from the others

Lie down ends with the front paws stretched out in front; Sit (four legs) keeps the front legs standing.

Works on

The two in the film above, and what the move turns on each: worked out by the build, which plays the move on each body and checks what moves. Nobody types this table.
