Pounce

An animal on four legs pounces, as a cat does: it crouches low, its back end wiggling, then leaps forward, front paws reaching, and lands.

What it is for

A cat on a toy mouse, a dog on a ball. It is what Jump, Hop over, Leap and Get ready to jump play on four legs, and in a game it is a jump.

The principle it shows: load, then let go

A pounce is all in the getting ready: the body sinks low over bent back legs and the back end wiggles while the eyes stay fixed, then everything goes at once, the back legs pushing and the front legs reaching forward, and the body lands a body length on.

Try this

  1. Take 0.6 s over its first change instead of 0.35 s: a slower pounce.

In the program: ramp ยท over 0.35 โ†’ 0.6

  2. Turn the tail to -13 instead of -10: a bigger pounce.

    In the program: ramp ยท to.part:tail -10 โ†’ -13

How it differs from the others

Stalk is the creeping before it; Startle jumps back, away.

Works on

The two in the film above, and what the move turns on each: worked out by the build, which plays the move on each body and checks what moves. Nobody types this table.
