Settle down (bird)
Settling down for a bird: the legs fold under and the wings fold in and settle, the same whether it is landing on the ground, a perch or a ledge.

What it is for
Settle down (bird) is the sit-down of the nine game cycles, written for the bird set: a bird settles down onto its folded legs and fluffs its wings, the same whether it is landing on the ground, a perch or a ledge at hip height. This body only has a ground version to settle onto, since the pose does not change by surface the way the upright sit-down's does.
The principle it shows: arcs
The same cosine geometry that keeps a two-bone leg's foot planted keeps this one-bone leg's foot planted too, worked out from the exact same formula with a much shorter leg length. Folding onto a short, single-bone leg bends further and faster than the long-legged sit, which is what makes this read as settling rather than sitting down the ordinary way.

Written out in full, exactly as the engine prints them:
h*leg*(1 - cos(((0 + 45*smoothstep(min(local/0.7, 1))))*pi/180))
-h*leg*sin(((0 + 45*smoothstep(min(local/0.7, 1))))*pi/180)
-h*leg*sin((45)*pi/180)
h*leg*(1 - cos((45)*pi/180))Try this
Take 1.1 seconds to settle instead of 0.7. The sit becomes a slow, careful fold instead of a quick one.
In the program:
ramp · over0.7→1.1Take half a second to fold the wings in instead of 0.2. The wings settle much more gradually after the legs have already folded.
In the program:
ramp · over0.2→0.5
How it differs from Sit down and Sit (bird)
Sit down is the two-bone-leg version, where ground, chair and ledge genuinely bend the hips and knees differently. Sit (bird) is the held pose this move settles into once it finishes.
