Sit (short legs)
Staying settled for the short-legged upright animal: the legs stay folded under, breathing, blinking and twitching the ears, looping every 4 seconds until a game stands the character back up.

What it is for
Sit (short legs) is the sit of the nine game cycles, written for the hop set: it holds the folded-leg pose Sit down (short legs) settles into, breathing, blinking and twitching its ears, looping every 4 seconds for as long as a game leaves the character there.
The principle it shows: overlapping action
The breath and the head's own sway share the same four-second period but start at different points in it, the same layering the long-legged sit uses. On top of that, the ears get their own, faster two-second twitch, a detail the long-legged sit does not have at all, since it is written for a body whose ears read clearly in this held, settled pose.

Written out in full, exactly as the engine prints them:
-h*leg/2*(sin((46)*pi/180) + sin(((46) - (92))*pi/180))
h*leg/2*(2 - cos((46)*pi/180) - cos(((46) - (92))*pi/180))Try this
Twitch the ears 15 degrees each way instead of 6. The hold looks far more alert and fidgety while the body itself stays perfectly settled.
In the program:
wave · amp6→15Breathe more than twice as deep, 0.025 instead of 0.01. The settled hold reads as a slow, deliberate breath rather than ordinary quiet rest.
In the program:

How it differs from Sit down (short legs) and Stand up (short legs)
Sit down (short legs) is the motion of folding down into this pose. Stand up (short legs) is what a game switches to when it is time to leave this pose behind.
