Stand up (many legs)

Standing up for many legs: every leg pushes the shell back up and the claws lift, for a game switching the character out of a sit.

What it is for

Stand up (many legs) is the stand-up of the nine game cycles, written for the many set: the legs pushing the shell up and the claws lifting, every leg, named or numbered up to 16, straightening together from the pose Sit (many legs) holds.

The principle it shows: staging

As with settling down, every leg straightens by the same amount in the same single motion, rather than each working to its own timing. With up to sixteen legs on screen, that shared, simple timing is what keeps the rise reading as one shell pushing up, rather than a blur of legs moving at slightly different rates.

The program, line by line

settings: h = 540, leg = 0.1, on = 0
when it starts
  set back left leg 34, back right leg 34, front left leg 34, front right leg 34, leg #4 34, leg #5 34, leg #6 34, leg #7 34, leg #8 34, leg #9 34, leg #10 34, leg #11 34, leg #12 34, leg #13 34, leg #14 34, leg #15 34, left shin 0, right shin 0, dy (h*leg*0.1), left arm -4, right arm 4, left arm lift (0.038*h), right arm lift (0.038*h)
  glide back left leg 0, back right leg 0, front left leg 0, front right leg 0, leg #4 0, leg #5 0, leg #6 0, leg #7 0, leg #8 0, leg #9 0, leg #10 0, leg #11 0, leg #12 0, leg #13 0, leg #14 0, leg #15 0, left shin 0, right shin 0, dy 0, left arm -5, right arm 5, left arm lift (0.04*h), right arm lift (0.04*h) over 0.6 s (smooth)
glide left arm 0, right arm 0, left arm lift (0.03*h), right arm lift (0.03*h) over 0.2 s (smooth)

Try this

  1. Take a full second to stand instead of 0.6. The stand-up becomes a slow, careful push instead of a quick one.

    In the program: ramp · over 0.6 → 1

  2. Take half a second for the claws to settle instead of 0.2. The last little flourish lingers much longer after the legs have already straightened.

    In the program: ramp · over 0.2 → 0.5

How it differs from Sit (many legs) and Stand up

Sit (many legs) is the settled pose this move rises out of. Stand up is the upright set's version, bending a hip and a knee rather than pushing up on every leg at once.

Works on

Worked out by the build: it plays the move in the engine on each body and checks what moves on screen. Nobody types this table.
