Yawn

Tired: a big stretch, the arms going up overhead and the back arching with the head back in a yawn, then everything slumps down, the head drooping. It stays drooped.

What it is for

Yawn is for a character who is tired: late at night, early in the morning, at the end of a long day. It plays once in about three seconds and ends drooping, ready for a sleep or a sit.

The principle it shows: squash and stretch

The whole body stretches and then squashes. In the first second it reaches up as tall as it can: the arms overhead, the back arched, up on the toes, the body 3 cm higher. Then it sinks 3 cm below where it started, the chest folding forward and the shoulders rolling in. The cast is solid, so the stretch and the squash are in the pose, not the shape: tall and thin, then short and round.

Try this

  1. Arch the back 25 degrees at the top of the stretch instead of 12: a really big stretch.

    In the program: ramp ยท to.part:torso#1 -12 โ†’ -25

  2. Let the head droop 40 degrees at the end instead of 22: nodding off on the spot.

    In the program: ramp ยท to.part:head 22 โ†’ 40

How it differs from Sad and Relieved

Sad keeps the head low from the start and goes on sighing. Relieved breathes out and drops the shoulders too, but with a hand on the chest and the head up.
