Chop

The sword raised straight up over the head, then brought straight down in front, the body folding into it and the knees giving.

What it is for

The overhead strike of a sword fight, or an axe splitting a log: the blade raised straight up and brought straight down in front.

The principle it shows: anticipation and weight

Anticipation and weight. The sword goes straight up first, so everyone can see the blow coming, then the body folds and the knees give as it comes down, putting the weight behind it. The marked Hit! is where it lands.

Try this

  1. Slow it from 0.18 s to 0.31 s: the same chop, taken more slowly, so you see each part of it.

In the program: ramp ยท over 0.18 โ†’ 0.31

  2. Turn the arm (right) to 128 degrees instead of 170: a smaller, tighter chop.

    In the program: ramp ยท to.part:arm:1 170 โ†’ 128

How it differs from the others

Slash sweeps level across the front instead of down; Heavy blow is the slower, two-handed strike that follows a held Heavy wind-up.

Works on

The two in the film above, and what the move turns on each: worked out by the build, which plays the move on each body and checks what moves. Nobody types this table.
