Who it is

The dog is the cast's animal star. In the example cartoon on this site, Grump is the dog: grumpy at first, happy by the end. It is drawn side-on, facing right, so it walks forward when it travels to the right and shows its four legs clearly. It also has a front view and a back view, drawn from the same bones, so it can turn to face you or walk away.

Its body

The dog's body is one long torso with the head at the front and the tail at the back. The tail is a chain of four segments, so a swish can travel down it and whip at the tip. The ears are chains of two segments each, which is why they flop. It has four legs, two at the back and two at the front, each a leg, a shin and a foot, the paw; the list of its bones below names them back left, back right, front left and front right. The front legs answer to the arm channels of a move, so when a person waves, the dog lifts a front paw and paddles it; the front paws are also its "hands" when a move reaches for a spot. A dog cannot put its paws on its hips, so a move that asks for that leaves them on the ground instead of twisting them.

Making it yours

In the studio you can change its fur, muzzle, and ears-and-paws colours, pick a body shape and a look, and stretch it. In the creator you can lengthen the tail, change the ears or recolour it, or start from it to build another animal. Turn the joints to Silly if you want the legs to bend any way at all.

Good moves to start with

Happy wag and Whip tail are made for it, Walk back and forth shows its four-legged walk, and Bow becomes a play bow, chest down and rear up. The list below has every move that suits the dog.

Moves that suit it

Worked out by the build, not typed. A move is listed when, played on this character, it moves the parts the move is about: the kinds of part it moves on most of the characters that have them (arms, wings or front legs; legs; tails; ears; hair). A move about the whole body suits every character. The small words say what moves.
